10th International Seminar on Apterygota IMPORTANT UDATE THERE!
Dear Colleagues, It is our pleasure to confirm that the 10th International Seminar on Apterygota will be held on the 17th to the 21st of June 2019 in Paris (France). This Seminar has taken place roughly every four years for more than 40 years. It aims to bring together researchers from around the world working on Apterygota, a paraphyletic group that includes the five clades of basal hexapods (Collembola, Protura, Diplura, Microcoryphia and Zygentoma). ISA offers the world-wide scientific community the opportunity to meet, exchange and discuss their research on the various aspects of the five basal hexapod taxa known as ‘Apterygota’. The topics covered in the oral communications and posters are varied: taxonomy, morphology, biogeography, evolution, ecology, physiology, ecotoxicology, genomics… These seminars provide an awaited opportunity to build, structure and reinforce our research community, which has a notable historical basis. Thanks to the help of the “Ecole Supérieure du Professorat et de l’Education de Paris” (ESPE de Paris), we are able to organize the 10th ISA next spring in Paris. It will take place in the 16th arrondissement of Paris in the historical buildings of the “ESPE de Paris”. The “ESPE de Paris” is the Paris Teacher Training College and belongs to the Faculty of Art and Humanities of the Sorbonne University. This institution has made available a large and modern auditorium to host the Seminar and the attendees will be able to use the cafeteria for lunch meals and coffee breaks and have the opportunity to enjoy the patio and the park surrounding the historical buildings. The Seminar welcomes all oral and poster presentations concerning Apterygota. Conference proceedings will be published in Soil Organisms. Abstract submissionThe 10th International Seminar on Apterygota is now open for talk and poster submission. The deadline for abstract submissions is Mai 15th. You need first to set up an account ("login" up right of this page), then simply go to “Submit” on the main menu on the left, then follow the instructions. Please do it as soon as possible, especially for the abstracts so that we can quickly work on the organization of the sessions. HousingWe have actively searched for accessible housing solutions with limited results. We will contact those who have expressed their will to get an affordable solution directly. For those who will stay in a hotel, we recommand to search and book for an hotel as soon as possible if you want to get affordable prices. You can use web sites such as expedia, booking, Hotels... They propose several solutions for less than 400 euros for the 4 nights. It is not necessary to stay in the close neighbourhood of the conference site (ESPE) because it is a posh neighbourhood with limited number of hotels and it's easy to get around Paris with public transport. Remember that metro lines 9 and 10 serve the conference site. If you look for affordable solution even at the price of abandoning Parisian romanticism you can have a look at hotels at the doors of Paris or around Paris such as "Ibis budget" but be aware that if they not very expensive, they are also not very glamorous... Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Registration The formal registration and payment will be open next week, we will send you a notification when it is up and running. The price for registration will be 180 euros for academic staff and 130 euro for students. This allows to pay for all lunches, coffee breaks and three evenings and logistics. It is easier for us if you use the Internet platform to register. Please register as soon as possible although the registration will be open until the May 15th. Let us know if you are not able to pay with a credit card. It should be possible to pay with a check or though a bank transfer. Contact us for more information if you need to use these alternative solutions. Please do not pay for the pack "registration+accommodation" unless we explicitly tell you to do so since we only have a limited number of accommodations...
